MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

Centered in Connection, Grounded in Systems, Rooted in Respect

Therapy Is a Healing Relationship

At the heart of therapy is human connection. It’s not just about techniques or tools — it’s about sitting with another person who sees you, hears you, and honors the complexity of your experience without judgment.

I believe that healing happens through relationships. Through presence. Through being with someone who helps you feel safe enough to explore the parts of yourself that are hurting, curious, or longing to grow.

Therapy with me is grounded in unconditional positive regard, empathy, and realness. We might talk about hard things, and we might also laugh. Sometimes laughter is the thing that unlocks the deepest release. Humor, when used with care, can be one of the most powerful interventions we have.

There’s Not Just One Way To Do Therapy, But It’s Always With You at the Center

There’s no one-size-fits-all method in therapy, and I don’t believe in rigid formulas. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, and tailor each session to support your unique needs, identity, and goals.

Some of the modalities I integrate include:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): for reprocessing trauma, distressing memories, or stuck emotional patterns. Especially helpful for clients with complex trauma or those who want healing without retelling every detail.
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): helpful for navigating thought patterns, especially with ADHD and neurodivergent clients.
  • Strengths-Based & Person-Centered Therapy: rooted in the work of Carl Rogers, this approach affirms your inherent worth and capacity for growth — you are the expert on your life.
  • Systemic & Relational Thinking: I’m trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist, which means I look beyond just the individual to include your environment, family, culture, and identities — all the concentric circles that shape who you are.

If you’re looking for a purely psychoanalytic approach, that’s not my lane. But if you’re looking for someone who’s trained in multiple theories and shows up with their full humanity, I’d love to meet you there.

What To Expect in the Therapy Room

  • A calm, grounded presence who won’t rush you
  • A therapist who can hold space, and connect with you
  • No fixing. No “expert on the pedestal.” Just a real person with you
  • Conversations that honor your identities, culture, and story
  • A flexible, collaborative process that evolves with your needs
  • Space to cry, swear, vent, laugh, or just be quiet, it’s all welcome here

I believe that therapy, at its best, is a space where two human souls meet. All the training and tools in the world matter — and I have them, but what truly changes us is being met with presence, honesty, and care.

A Strengths-Based, Client-Centered Philosophy

I don’t see clients as broken or in need of fixing. I see people navigating complex lives with resilience, creativity, and courage. Therapy is not about diagnosing what’s “wrong.” It’s about expanding what’s possible.

My role is to walk alongside you — with care, curiosity, and a deep respect for your truth. I may bring clinical insights, but you bring the wisdom of your lived experience. Together, we make meaning, shift patterns, and support the version of you that’s trying to emerge.

YOUR STORY MATTERS
