What can you expect from teen therapy?
Wherever they are, healing begins when teens feel seen, heard, and respected.
The teenage years are a time of big emotions, identity shifts, and growing pressures, all while navigating school, social dynamics, family life, and the stress of simply becoming. Therapy offers teens a space to slow down, make sense of what they’re feeling, and build skills that help them move through life with more ease and confidence.
Miri’s approach with teens is relational, respectful, and rooted in consent. Therapy only begins when a teen is willing and interested in engaging because therapy is most effective (and ethical) when the client has agency and choice.
Sessions are structured to meet teens where they are, using awareness, mindfulness, and trauma-informed tools to help regulate the nervous system, explore emotions, and reconnect with a sense of self.

Teen therapy can help with…
Teen therapy with Miri offers a safe, affirming space for self-expression, emotional regulation, and personal growth. The therapeutic relationship is built on consent, trust, and respect. Therapy can help with:
- Emotional overwhelm, shutdown, or “shutting people out”
- School stress, burnout, or identity pressure
- ADHD, autism, or sensory sensitivity
- Social struggles, peer conflict, or friendship breakdowns
- Grief, trauma, or family transitions
- Shame around gender, sexuality, or body image
- Religious harm or values confusion
- Difficulty expressing emotions or asking for help
BENEFITS OF THERAPY FOR TEENS
Wherever your teen is in their journey, they deserve a space that’s safe, respectful, and truly theirs.

SAFETY
A calm, nonjudgmental space where teens are never pushed, and where emotional safety is built step-by-step.

INSIGHT
Support to explore thoughts, emotions, identity, and relationships with curiosity instead of criticism.

GROWTH
Tools for self-regulation, communication, and confidence that extend far beyond the therapy room.
Support That Meets Teens Where They Are
Teen therapy is not about “fixing” behavior, it’s about helping young people feel more at home in themselves. Miri works at a pace that honors each teen’s autonomy, using a flexible and responsive approach to address what’s most important to them.
With compassion and consent at the core, therapy can help teens:
- Build emotional vocabulary and expression
- Feel less anxious, shut down, or reactive
- Develop coping strategies and stress regulation
- Understand their identity with clarity and self-trust
- Improve communication at home and with peers
- Heal from past wounds, shame, or feeling stuck
- Strengthen their sense of agency and self-worth
A Note on Confidentiality
Confidentiality is essential to the therapeutic relationship — and teens deserve to know that what they share in therapy is held with care. While Miri welcomes collaboration with parents and caregivers, session content remains confidential unless the teen is at risk of harm to themselves or others.
Miri may support teens in sharing parts of their process with their families if and when it feels helpful, but always with the teen’s consent and readiness.
